We first met Cassie and Derek over pizza at Disney Springs, where we instantly clicked. What started as a casual meeting to chat about their vision quickly turned into a true friendship that we cherish to this day.
The morning of their wedding was filled with excitement, nerves, and plenty of sweet details. Cassie looked radiant as she got ready, surrounded by her favorite people, while Derek prepared with equal anticipation nearby. One of our favorite moments was when Cassie surprised her mom with a photo album of images we had captured earlier of Cassie wearing her mom’s wedding dress. It was such a heartfelt and thoughtful gift, and the reaction was priceless.
Their original plan was to exchange vows beachside, but Florida had other ideas. A sudden storm rolled in, forcing a quick pivot to an indoor location overlooking the golf course. While it wasn’t the ceremony setting they imagined, Cassie and Derek handled the change with so much grace. They didn’t let the weather dampen their spirits, in fact, their vows felt even more powerful, surrounded by loved ones who cheered them on through the storm.
The rain refused to let up for most of the day, but we came prepared with umbrellas and were still able to sneak outside for a few portraits on the green. Cassie and Derek laughed through the drizzle, proving that nothing could shake their happiness. Still, we knew their beachside dream deserved to be honored, so on a later date we brought them back to Longboat Key Club for a second portrait session on the sand. The result? Absolutely stunning beachside photos that completed their story in the most perfect way.
Once the formalities were over, it was time to celebrate and celebrate they did! The reception was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and nonstop dancing. Their friends and family brought so much energy to the night, and it was clear just how loved Cassie and Derek are. Every hug, every cheer, and every twirl on the dance floor reflected the joy of the day.
Cassie and Derek’s wedding was the kind of day that proves love can weather any storm, literally. From the heartfelt ceremony to the unforgettable reception and the dreamy beach portraits that followed later, their celebration was too epic to fit into just one day. We couldn’t be happier for our dear friends, and we’re so honored they chose us to capture their wedding.
